Grants for Backward Areas(BRGF- Backward Region Grant Fund)

It is a central scheme. Its aim is to eliminate regional disparities in the state. Especially for the benefit of SC/ST people, 20 districts of the state namely Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and BRGF plan is being implemented for Sundargarh.Raised water irrigation projects are being established for the improvement of the said districts.
In the said scheme, the Chief Irrigation Officer provides the list of Chief Irrigation Projects to the District Collector for new projects or restoration of old projects. After these projects are approved, the Harvest Irrigation Executive prepares a comprehensive project report (DPR) after rating and sends it to the District Collector.The District Collector considers this and approves the project and sanction the funds. Once the grant is received, the work begins. After the completion of the project, the responsibility is transferred to the farmer committee.
