Cluster Shallow Tube well Project under “Jalanidhi-II” Scheme

In the non-saline areas of the coastal districts of Odisha and inland river valley of the state “Cluster Shallow Tube well Project” has been implemented under Jalanidhi-II scheme funded by NABARD under RIDF through the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment from the year 2014-15 for providing assured irrigation to 13 Districts i.e. Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Each Shallow Tube Well will provide irrigation to 5 Ha. in Rabi and 10 Ha. of protective irrigation in Khariff. The average unit cost of each project is Rs. 3.895 lakh.
Shallow Tube Wells are installed in clusters (at least 5 nos.) on the land of farmers on individual ownership basis.
Any cultivator has a minimum of 0.5 acre of cultivable non-irrigated land within the ayacut of 12.5 Ac.area will be eligible to apply for a shallow tube well project. If the cultivaor has not his own area of 12.5 Ac., then he can share the water to the adjoining farmers with mutual agreement for water sharing.
For each cluster one dedicated electrical substation installed for power supply to the cluster Shallow tube well.
The beneficiary will have to deposit Rs.20,000/- for General category and Rs.10,000 for SC/ST with BPL category in one time in the bank. For SC/ST with BPL category, the balance amount should be reimbursed from SC/ST Development Department.
The farmer has to apply in online application along with F.D. of Rs.20,000 for General category and Rs. 10,000 for Sc/St with BPL category made in his/her name pledged to OLIC. If the shallow tube well found not feasible and also not drilled, then the deposited amount with interest will be refunded to concerned farmers.
As on 31.08.2021, OLIC has successfully installed and energised 4,018 nos. of Shallow Tube Well projects with creating irrigation potential of 40,180 Ha.
